Some Halloween 2010 posts

Here are some pictures from the Halloween party at Mackenzie's pre-school. Mackenzie is dressed as Dora the Explorer. Minus the dark hair.

Showing off her new house

As part of our great family migration this summer, Mackenzie managed to land a house of her own in the backyard. She even invited her friend Jaime over to show off the new digs. I think she's still a little shy about it, and we occasionally find her poring over old issues of "Dwell" magazine - presumably for decoration ideas.

Mackenzie enjoys some new amenities

Here we find Mack having some applesauce in the new backyard. She also discovered the tot-lot swings near our place, which she was very excited about.

More pics from the beach 2010

Mackenzie was very excited about the water. She would approach the surf, then turn back shouting "run away, run away!"

Engineer's hat

One of the final pics from our place in Fairfax before the big move. Mackenzie is sporting her train engineer's hat (from someone's train-themed birthday). The move to Burke went fine (amazingly), and Mack loves her new, larger room.

Summer Vacation in Sandbridge, Virginia

Here are some pics from our beach trip in July. It was Mack's first time at the beach. She really enjoyed building sandcastles and watching the wildlife. Going in the water - not so much.

The Bunny Backpack

Mack likes her bunny backpack. (cue the Dora the Explorer "backpack" song). Also note the pen and crayon marks on the wall in the background. Who am I to deny her artistic ambitions?

"Fair use" and all that

So I'm counting the minutes until a certain mouse-branded corporation sends formal intellectual property inquiries to the proprietors of Haydenhold. In the meantime, here's Mackenzie thoroughly enjoying her Mickey ride.

Helmet

We went to REI the other day, and Mack was determined to wear a bike helmet. As Dora the Explorer might say, "So we can be safe."

Cars

Mackenzie likes cars, but not always to share. "Move, Mommy!"

"Look Daddy, I'm a Bunny"

That's exactly what Mackenzie told me when she put this shirt on her head the other day. Just thought I'd share.

Smile on command

Actually, Mackenzie really does like the book "The Grouchy Ladybug." She's still working on the smiling on cue part.

A little help here, please

Mack likes to hang and climb, even though she can't really do either very well.

Mackenzie flirts with the camera

Just a few pics of Mackenzie this month. She's not exactly shy around the camera lately.

Note the giant cardboard house in the background. Yeah, that's pretty much taken over our living room.

Springtime 2010 in Fairfax

Here are some pics from the flowers around our home.

Mackenzie's Birthday Party, or, Invasion of the Elmo Cakepops

Mackenzie is two years old! Here are pics from Mackenzie's recent birthday party. Jaime bravely put together some cake pops, and I have to say there was a bit of a learning curve, but I think they turned out great. Mackenzie thoroughly enjoyed the party. Especially the 82 million balloons we had decorating the house. The Elmo cake pops. They are watching. Waiting.

Here's what the place looked like before the wave of toddlers hit the scene. Mack is inspecting the spread in her pajamas.

Mackenzie knows how to be 'camera-ready.'

As you can see... Mackenzie was super excited.

In Between Days

It's been four days of shoveling, and now we are expecting the next round of heavy snow. Here are some pictures of the house and (temporarily) cleared driveway. Thankfully, Mackenzie was able to get out of the house for some much needed freedom.

Day after the big snow

Here are some shots from around our house after the big snow storm. You'll notice the deer, our monumental shoveling task, and one of the gigantic icicles forming above our door.
