The Newseum

Mack visited the Newseum with us last Saturday. It's a great museum that like many museums in DC, will likely take more than a few visits to digest. The museum is also clearly well-equipped to teach kids about journalism and the social implications of the profession. As Mack is not a big news junkie (yet), she was ambivalent. Perhaps she was concerned about the $20 per person ticket price. Oh wait, that was me. At least she got to wear another jacket with ears on the hood.

Why not ears?

I asked Jaime the other day - why can't I wear jackets to work with little teddy bear / small furry mammal ears on my hood? Is that not professional? Perhaps I need to make a bold fashion statement. Set a trend or something. Or wait for tenure.

Vegas Baby, Vegas

We went to Vegas a few weeks ago for Matera's wedding. It was Mack's first trip to Vegas. Even so, I'm not sure it was the kind of Vegas trip she might have wanted to hazily remember. She came to Sin City with Momma, Dadda, and two sets of Grandparents.

Latest visit to the doctor

Mack went to her new pediatrician yesterday and she is now officially 13 pounds 11 ounces and is about 25 1/2 inches long -- see the growth chart above. She is little, but very healthy!

Playing with Grandma

We took Mack to the National Zoo a few weeks ago. Mack already understands the animal hierarchy -- she was more interested in the animals with opposable thumbs.

Since we moved to DC, Mack has become a regular on The Metro.

Hatwear is back

Mack is fine with hats, as long as they don't cover her eyes. Here she is showing off her style in New Mexico.

The first picture of the Lester grandkids. Taryn is the oldest at 11 years old, followed by Trinity who is 7 (she is the one holding Mack), Aidan is 3, and Mack and Lauren are 4 months.

Meet Cousin Lauren

I Made Your Child Cry First

During one of our trips to see Cousin Lauren, I thought that I would position Lauren and Mackenzie in such a way that they would be looking at each other. Here is the first 30 seconds:

If you have not noticed, little Lauren is now crying. Between Mom's placement of Lauren and Mack squealing, as Eric stated, "You made my kid cry first." I may never live this one down.

We just returned from Mack's first trip to New Mexico. She met her cousin Lauren who was born two days before Mack, took pictures with all her cousins, and spent many hours with her grandparents.
